Boarding of passengers in ration sorties opposed

Itanagar, May 9: The All Tali Area Students’ Union (ATASU) has strongly urged the concerned authorities for immediate stoppage of lifting of passengers in ration sorties from Naharlagun and Ziro to Tali and Pipsorang respectively.

In its representation to the Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner, the union claimed that often in order to accommodate passengers in the ration sorties, a  number of rice bags have to be unloaded resulting in shortage of ration items in far-flung areas.

One of the reasons for shortage and short supply of ration items in Tali and Pipsorang areas is due to approval of passengers in ration sorties, the union added.

Further, alleging the concerned department of being mere spectator, the union fervently requested the district administration to issue necessary instruction to the concerned authority for immediate stoppage of lifting of passengers in sorties meant for ration items in respect of Tali and Pipsorang.
