 From our Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, May 29: Bodo leaders of different organizations have expressed their resentment over the systematic killings of Bodo tribal youths in fake encounters by the security forces in the me of search operations and demanded that the cold blood killings must be stopped by any means. The working president of Bodoland Jajati Suraksa Mancha (BJSM), DD rzary said the recent killings of two Bodo youths-Lukas rzary and David Islary of Chirang district in a fake encounter with the NDFB(S) was most unfortute and proved the sheer violation of human rights. He said many innocent Bodo youths had been killed in fake encounters by the joint team of security forces but the matter was not looked into thoroughly. The government was also giving free hands to the security forces as a result of which the security forces were misusing the law, he said, adding that people of the region should come forwards against the gross violation of human rights.

rzary said both the State and Union governments were responsible for growing armed militant organizations in the region as the former had miserably failed to address the genuine problems of the people who felt denied of their rights and privileges, exploited, isolated and insecure to protect their identity. He said most of the militant organizations had come to the negotiation table except some, and they were homegrown outfits which were actually demanding homeland within the Indian Territory under the ambit of the Constitution of India, but not terrorists as that of Jammu and Kashmir. He also said the government should come clean on finding out solutions for these pro-talk militant outfits and human rights violation in the form of fake encounter should be stopped.

Former Rajya Sabha MP, UG Brahma in social networking site said the fake encounter report by IG, CRPF-Rajneesh Rae showed the ruthless face of counter insurgency operation in Assam and entire region. This fact was revealed in the media just a couple of days ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to Assam. He said as reported, killing of two NDFB (S) cadres, Lukas rzary and David Islary on March 30 of this year was pre-planned, designed as encounter because they were apprehended first and killed. Believing the claim of security forces nobody opposed or criticized that act of killing at that time, but now things had taken a different turn after an operation head accused other security agency involved for indulging in fake encounter. He said David Islary, as sources revealed, was once jailed already and released couple of weeks before only for being a cadre of outfit. “Now the question arises, how a person, who has already been jailed and released too, can be re-arrested and assassited in such way for the same reason?” he questioned.

Brahma said nobody knew how many extremists, innocent students and farmers had been killed so far in such fake encounters in entire region. “We general people are not against counter insurgency operation because we do not support insurgency, but today the matter is raised by none other than CRPF IG,” he said adding that the violation of human rights of any ture should not be left un-judged and now the question was how the justice to victims and punishment to guilty would be given because, despite the fact that the boys belonged to the banned outfit, the way they got killed was wrong and cold blooded, as reported by Rae. Therefore, this matter was legally authentic to come under the judicial process as a serious case of human rights violation, he said. “People have the right to know what is going on in the me of counter insurgency operation and how justified are the actions of killing in the mes of fake encounter. Will the government of the present day come out and clarify?” he added.

NGO activist Digambar rzary said that every year; nearly 50 youths were killed in BTC areas in the me of militancy. He also appealed to stop such barbaric killings in the me of fake encounter. Another person, Dhanjit Choudhury also posted that the fake encounter was a clear case of human rights violation. Be it in BTC or other parts of Assam, the brutal pre-planned killing was always condemble and was an act of loosening the future as killing of innocents bore testimony to a dark future, he said.
