KOKRAJHAR, May 6: Ex-president of the Ramfalbil Primary Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and the Life Member of the Sabha Rupendra th Mashahary who was also the president of Boro Samaj of Ramfalbil Anchalik committee died on Thursday evening at his Charaguri village in Kokrajhar district. Mashahary left behind his wife, two sons, two daughters and host of grand children. He was 65.
Family sources said Mashahary, who is a retired Head Master, was working in the field round the day. Again, in the evening, he went in the field with bunch of tapioca and arum shoots but somehow, he drawn in a small pond nearby a house. The family members searched in the areas but could not trace. On Friday morning, the villagers saw the floating body of Rupen.
Mashahary was cremated on Friday as per ritual of the Bodos in presence of leaders of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Boro Somaj, ABSU, well wishers and local people offered flowers and bid tearful adieu. Born on September 1, 1950 at Charaguri village, Mashahary was not only a good teacher, worker of the Bodo literary bodies and social organizations but he was one of the most active and progressive farmers of the district. He received best farmers award in the district and was felicitated during the Republic Day celebration couple of years back and he also received award from the state agriculture department for being a challenging and progressive farmer. The local ABSU and BSS expressed deep condolence over his sudden demise and said the Bodos have lost one of the most promising workers and farmer.
