Bodousa Cup to kick off on June 26

Guwahati, June 10: The 8th edition of the Bodousa cup soccer championship will kick off simultaneously in Guwahati and Jorhat on June 26.  Tinsukia, and Kokrajhar will be the other venues of this competition this time..

Addressing a media conference Arunjyoti Maran, the secretary of the Bodousa Sports club, the organizer of the meet, said that it is for the first time the tourment will be held across the state. The semi fils and fil will be held at Tinsukia. Among the participants Assam State Electricity Board Sports club and Assam Police already confirmed to play in the contest. There will be few teams from outside the state also which included academy side of Shillong Lajong club, Akraman Football club from Sikkim, Neroca (Manipur) and Mautai Football club (Aruchal Pradesh).

Moran today also released the me of the teams which will play in Guwahati. Apart from ASEBSC and Assam Police, Shillong Lajong Academy and Barekuri FC will be seen in action in the group stage of the tourment at the Nehru stadium. As per the schedule, ASEBSC will take on Assam Police in the iugural game on June 26. On the same day Jorhat will host the iugural tie of other cluster where Akraman club of Sikkim will face Barveta FC, Jorhat.

Meanwhile Ankur Dutta, the general secretary of the Assam Football Association today appreciated the initiative taken by Bodousa club to organize the event in the different parts of the state. In a brief reaction he said, “ It’s a new concept and state football will be benefitted from it.”

Moran today also announced the prize money of the championship. The champion team will earn cash award of rs one lakh while the award of the runners up team is rs 50,000. There will be cash award for the fair play trophy winner too which is rs 10,000. Apart from that there will be several individual awards too.
