Body of 45-year-old man recovered in Kheroni

KHERONI, June 18: Sensation prevailed over the alleged gruesome killing of a person in Matikhola area in West Karbi Anglong under Kheroni police station.

On Friday evening at around 7 pm, a critically injured person was found in the dense forest area of Kheroni, near the Chuta-Matikhola area. The victim has been identified as Prahlad Marak (45) of Kheroni Matikhola in West Karbi Anglong. As per report of the victim’s family, he went to the forest reserve around 4 pm to bring their cow from the forest area back to the house that evening. But instead of bringing cow, a call came from him to a neighbour around 5 pm that an unfortute accident had taken place with him. The family members went out in search of him and filly they found him around 7 pm in a critically injured condition. At once he was brought to his house and later shifted to the Kheroni Hospital by the 108 services. But he died in the hospital while undergoing treatment. Kheroni Police sources said that the victim was hit by pointed rods and there were grievous injuries in his stomach and back. On the other hand, the doctor of Kheroni Hospital suspected bullet injury. But the doctor said that things would be clear only after the postmortem report. The body was sent to Diphu for postmortem.
