Body of missing girl recovered, irate mob stages road blockade

MARGHERITA, May 4: Tension prevailed in Margherita on Wednesday when the body of a girl who was missing for seven days was found at Dehing River, Lama gaon by Margherita Police.
The deceased has been identified as Champa Chetry who was missing since April 28 and in this connection two youths have been arrested. The two youths have been identified as Biswajit Chetry and Moinul Ali of Ledo region. A case has been registered at Margherita Police Station case Number 94/16 U/S 366,376,342/34 IPC against the youths.
Meanwhile, an irate mob blocked the NH-38 road at Baragolai for more than two hours demanding strict punishment for the arrested youths. After that Additiol SP Margherita Sub Divisiol Police Officer, Tinsukia District Additiol Deputy Commissioner and Margherita Police Station officer went there and assured the irate mob that strict punishment would be given to the arrested youths.
All Adivasi Student Association of Assam, Margherita Regiol Committee president Ramanus Lakra condemned the heinous incident and demand strict punishment. Noted Communist thinker of Margherit, Comrade Bikash Dasgupta also condemned the incident and appealed to all families to fight against such problems in the society.
