Bohagi Utsav-2015 gets under way in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, April 5: Bohagi Utsav-2015 organized by Jatiya Sanskriti Bikash Mancha got under way at Boarding Field here from Saturday.

The nine-day long function is an initiative by the organization to promote the creative works of the potential local artisans in handloom and textile and in other handicraft, and the ethnic dishes of the region, said Birinchi Gohain, secretary of the organizing committee.

“We are organizing this festival with a motive to strengthen amity among different communities residing in the region”, Gohain further added.

There will also be competition on Rongpuror Dhulia and Rongpuor choni, poem recitation, extempore speech and ethnic dress. An award med ‘Talented Youth Award’ will also be given during the festival. The festival will conclude on April 12.
