Bought tea leaf factories yet to pay gas bills

MARGHERITA, Jan 7: More than 50 bought tea leaf factories of Tinsukia district have not paid their bills to the Assam Gas Company Limited for many months at a time when the Assam Gas Company Limited is suffering heavy losses. Local people have alleged that the owners of bought tea leaf factories of Tinsukia district and Assam Gas Company Limited have an unholy nexus where gas bills amounting to crores of rupees are still yet to be recovered. Local people are apprehensive that if this continues then soon the Assam Gas Company Limited would have to close down, thus affecting many industries of Assam. Local people said that Assam Gas Company Limited was a tiol property and the authorities concerned must take action against the corrupt officials of the company because of whom bought tea leaf factories could mage to evade paying pending gas bills for so many months.
