Boy commits suicide after failing in HSLC exam

DHUBRI, May 26: An High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exam candidate allegedly committed suicide in ward no. 5 of Dhubri town. The results of the exam were declared on Friday.

Ridhim Kundu (15) and a student of SP English Medium School could not clear the examination. “Ridhim was unable to bear the agony of his failure in the examination and took the last resort to end his life by hanging himself from the ceiling fan. His body was later recovered by the police in the morning today and sent for the post-mortem,” a family source informed.

Ridhim was the son of Gautam Kundu, a reputed cloth merchant of Dhubri town. News of the suicide sent a shock wave in the town and thousands of well-wishers, family friends and local people thronged Kundu’s house.
