BPF and BJP election offices vandalized in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, March 28:  Unidentified miscreants vandalized the election offices of BPF and BJP in different areas under No. 9 Bargaon constituency in Kokrajhar district late Friday night.

The Bargaon constituency witnesses contest of strong candidates from different political parties including PCDR candidate Rabiram rzary, BJP candidate Manoj Kumar Brahma and BPF candidate Rajib Brahma. BPF election offices at Antaibil and Belguri under Serfanguri police station were set on fire by some unidentified miscreants while BJP election office at Halangbazar under Patgaon police out post was vandalized, party sources informed.

Talking to media persons, a BPF worker said that some unidentified miscreants burnt their election offices in two places at Antaibil and Belguri on Friday night at around 10 pm. He alleged that the opposition party might be involved in the incident. Meanwhile, police personnel rushed to the spot. An FIR has been lodged against the incident. He also mentioned that the administration should take security measures as these incidents might rise before the election in the council.

In another incident, the BJP election office at Halangbazar was vandalized by unidentified miscreants on the same night. BJP supporters have urged the district administration to investigate the incident and to ensure free and fair election.

On the sidelines of the iuguration of an election steering office at Chandrapara, PCDR candidate Rabiram rzary termed these incidents as unfortute and said that the administration should ascertain that such incidents did not happen in future. “It is the work of anti-democratic elements and these forces should not be given free hand to spread their tentacles,” he asserted.

rzary also alleged that the counter clash between the parties could not be ruled out. He urged the district administration to take stern action against the culprits involved in the incident. rzary affirmed that the PCDR workers would never indulge in such violence and he also appealed to people to cast their votes without any fear.
