Brazil court freezes football star Neymar's assets

Kolkata, Feb 16: The federal court in Sao Paulo on Tuesday announced that it has decided to freeze almost 50 million dollar worth of assets belonging to Barcelo and Brazil forward Neymar. The assets include a yacht, a jet, three companies belonging to Neymar's family and several other properties. The 23-year-old has been accused of tax evasion between 2011 and 2013 and is set to face legal proceedings. However, he has denied any wrong doing, reported the BBC. The court has demanded 16 million dollars from him. The court ordered his assets be frozen to ensure the payment plus any possible fines, it said. Earlier this month, both Neymar and his father were questioned in a court in Madrid, over separate allegations of fraud on his transfer to FC Barcelo. IANS
