Bribery case: Police records complaint’s statement

JORHAT, April 8: Police today recorded the statement of a retired Principal of a high school of Jorhat who alleged before the Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Soalnki Vishal Vasant that he was demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 by two officials of district treasury office for regularizing his monthly pension.

The complaint principal Hemodhar Kalita of mgorumora High School alleged that one Rubul Bora and his colleague Pradip Rajkhowa sought Rs 50,00 for doing their official works for his pension.

Though the official papers were received by the district treasury officials, Kalita was told that the papers were never sent from the Guwahati office of the Director concerned.

However, after an inquiry he came to know that the treasury officials lied before him about the non-receipt of the papers concerned. When he got the proof of the receipt by the Jorhat treasury officials concerned, Kalita informed the matter to Rubul Bora who later demanded the amount for the officials works.

Along with Bora another Pradip Rajkhowa of the treasury also told him to pay the amount to regularize his monthly pension.

As he informed the matter to the Deputy Commissioner few days ago, the DC ordered a probe into the case by an additiol superintendant of police (vigilance) who recorded the statement against the two accused persons today.

When asked if any action would be initiated against the accused persons, an Additiol Deputy Commissioner said that notices have been issued against Rubul Bora and Pradip Rakhowa for explation.
