Shillong, April 11: The long pending ceremonial retreat between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Gaurds Bangladesh (BGB) at Tamabil border, around 85 Kilometers from Shillong is expected to materialize by May this year.
The ceremonial retreat that is in line with the Border Security Force-Pakistani Rangers at Wagah was expected to be replicated in the Tamabil, a fringe location at Meghalya stretch of the Indo-Bangladesh border. It fails to take off last year due to the BGB ibility to complete the infrastructural works , informed the Deputy Inspector General of the BSF, UK iyal.
“We are ready for the ceremonial gesture but our counterparts (BGB) have not fully complete the entire logistics meant for public viewing”, yal said, even as he asserted that going by the communications, the retreat will start by May this year.
However, the ceremonial retreat ,to display vigor is not part of the BSF-BGB ,informed a source ,adding that it will be a show of camaraderie than strength. Tamabil is barely two kilometers from Dawki, an area that attract tourist from both sides of the country. The official records are indicators on the number of visitors to the edge of the two countries. If, the BSF or BGB doesn, lie, the retreat will add more to the fervor of Dawki-Tamabil in the days to come. Scores of Tourist visit to the melting point from India to Dawki as well as from Bangngladesh ,to a point where they even interacted to know each other.
