BSF men undergo Yoga training

Guwahati, May 7: In the run-up to the Golden Jubilee Celebrations, Border Security Force, (BSF) Guwahati Frontier in collaboration with Lakshmi Bai Institute of Physical Education, (LNIPE), Guwahati organised 20-day training for Yoga trainers.

BSF, the largest border guarding force was raised on December 1, 1965, and will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year. On the occasion of completion of 50 years of glorious and dedicated services to the tion, the force has chalked out various programs and events, across the country. Following the guidelines of its Director General, Guwahati Frontier of BSF has also organised many programs and events at Guwahati, Dhubri and Cooch- Behar. Many more programmes are on the pipe line. This exclusive yoga training that has been organised for BSF personnel is a part of this schedule.

Forty male and sixteen female trainees of BSF from various battalions were chosen for this mission and are presently undergoing the 20-day capsule course which started from Monday. This training will culmite on May 22. These trainees are being trained by trainers of LNIPE, Guwahati, who have tremendous expertise on the subject. The program was iugurated, on May 4 by S. K. Srivastava, IG BSF Guwahati Frontier in the presence of B Basumatary, Dean, LNIPE and other officers from BSF and faculty member of the institute.  IG SK Srivastava, while iugurating Yoga camp, expressed his immense gratitude to the Dean of the institute for extending his support by way of imparting training and providing boarding and lodging of trainees.  

This training will eble BSF troops to further impart training to hundreds of personnel in the battalions as well as their families. This training will also assist in the reduction of stress amongst the force personnel and enhance their performance as well as health.
