BSNL seeks Itagar's support

Itagar, March 15: The top rungs of NE BSNL authority have drawn the attention of Aruchal Pradesh Home and Power (Electrical) Minister Tanga Byaling to direct the power department to erect 132 KV tower and 33/11 KV poles for facilitating laying of optical fibre cable as an alterte and stable connectivity with district headquarters in the state.

After an eight-day whirwind tour to the state, the team called on the home minister here Saturday evening to appraise him of the difficulties confronted by the BSNL in providing effective service in this land-locked state, a communiqué informed here today. Byaling sought the support of BSNL authorities for improving services in remote and rural areas of the state while assuring all support to the telecom service provider. The BSNL top officials also pointed out the possibilities of establishment of solar power plant for telecom establishment in remote areas through Aruchal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA) or other departments during the meeting, the communiqué said. The team was on mission to assess the current status of telecom services, understand inter-district media connectivity issues and plan for further improvement by removing challenges for ensuring hassle-free connectivity across the state.

The team comprising Shillong-based NE-I circle CGM D P Singh, Dimapur-based NE-II circle CGM T Durga Prashad, DGM Arung Siram, SE(E) Mara Kocho and Telecom Advisory Committee member Tungri Effa, visited Changlang, msai, Lohit, Lower Dibang Valley, East Siang, West Siang, Upper Subansiri and Lower Subansiri districts, the communiqué added.
