BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary lays foundation stone of girls' hostel building

Kokrajhar: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of a three-storey girls' hostel building at a ceremony held in the premises of the office of the Additional Registrar, Cooperation Department at Titaguri.

Talking to media persons, Hagrama Mohilary said that the Cooperation Department would construct this building at a cost of Rs. 1.88 core with an aim of providing accommodation to at least 100 poor girls students of BTC area. Further informing on other initiatives taken up by the department, he said the department had also decided to construct a shopping complex in Udalguri town at the cost of Rs. 1.96 crore and 10 rice husking mills in different places.

"Construction of medical college at Debargaon and extending Rs. 5 lakh financial assistance to the next of kin of each killed ex-BLT, surrendered NDFB and SULFA cadres will be started within this year as we will be able to get the necessary sanctioned amount against those schemes within a very short time," he added. Stating about the decision of BPF to contest in the forthcoming panchayat election, he said that his party would contest in some constituencies where they were very sure of winning. "Bodo people living outside BTC will also get autonomous council soon," he further informed. Also present on the occasion were BTC EM Jagdish Sarkar, BTC secretary Bhabani Prasad Sarma and othee dignitaries.
