BTC Polls: BPF likely to face tough challenge from independent at Salbari

SALBARI , March 11:  With the BTC polls approaching, the candidates in 21 Salbari constituency have geared up for the polls to be held in the month of April. The ruling Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) has field Bhubaneswar Goyari while PCDR has med Binod Mushahary from Salbari constituency. The Nirdaliya Aikya Mancha has nomited Tapan Swargiyari as the candiadate from the constituency and the Aboro Surakshya Samiti has med Sakradhar Das from the constituency.

Congress, BJP, AIUDF, Sanmilita Jagosthiya Aikya Mancha, however,  have not yet declared the mes of the candidates from the constituency.

Congress party sources said that the party is likely to field kul Boro from the constituency.

"However, several others mes including Keshab Das, Biswajit Basumatary and Dibya Basumatary are also doing the round ," said a local Congress leader.

On the other hand, BJP is likely to nomite Bijon Swargiyari from the Bodo community domited seat.

The Sanmilita Jagosthiya Aikya Mancha , however, searching for a non-Bodo tribal candiadte. It may be mentioned that 21 Salbari  constituency is reserved for ST.

On the other hand, diffrences have cropped up between sitting MCLA Ranjit Kherkatary and  the BPF party, sources said, Kherkatary, who was elected from the seat in the last BTC polls on BPF ticket, is now mulling to contest as an independent candidate from the constituency.  Sources said if he contests as an independent candidate, BPF this time unlikely to win the seat.

"Voters in the constituency have alreday rejected Hagrama Mahilary led BPF," said a supporter of Kherkatary on condition of anonimity.
