BTF slams BJP

FROM A CORRESPONDENT
KALAIGAON, March 19: The Rehabilitation Co-Ordition Committee of Bengali Tiger Force (BTF) has called upon the Bengali people to cast their votes in favour of a party which is supportive of the community’s welfare, in order to ensure development of the community in the BTAD area.  In a press statement issued by the general secretary of the committee, Bibek Roy, it was stated that the BJP which made many promises to the Bengali community of Assam before Lok Sabha election, failed to deliver a single commitment. Roy said that before Lok Sabha election, the BJP promised to accord citizenship to Bengali Hindus. But after coming to power, the BJP has not fulfilled this promise.  The Rehabilitation Co-Ordition Committee of Bengali Tiger Force (BTF) also stated in the release that until the BJP announces to fulfil the promises made, Bengali people should boycott the party in the upcoming election. “We were hopeful that the BPF would ensure adequate security to the community. But the BPF also failed.  A Bengali leader had put his sigture in the BTC accord in 2003 with commitment for all-round development of the Bengali people of the region. But now he has also forgotten to fight for the Bengalis,” Roy added.
