Buddha's birth anniversary observed in Margherita

MARGHERITA, May 21: Lord Buddha’s 2560th birth anniversary was observed at Margherita Buddha Vihara on Saturday. The programme began with hoisting of Buddhist flag by Gyanowada Mahathera, Head of Margherita Buddha Vihara. After that Buddha puja was held where more than 200 Buddhist followers of Margherita region were present.In the evening candles were lit by people. Holy discourse of Lord Buddha was delivered by Gyanowada Mahathera. “Buddhist religion is a symbol of love, peace, brotherhood, humanity and non-violence that is why the world loves and honours the the Buddhist religion,” said Gyanowada Mahathera.
