Burmese Cigarettes worth Rs 4,30,000 seized in Guwahati’s Satgaon by CID

Guwahati: At least 43 numbers of cartons containing 50 packets cigarette (total- 21,500 cigarettes) HONGYUNHONGHE TOBACCO CO. LTD marked as WIN (KING SIZE CIGARETTEs) from Burma seized in Guwahati by CID on Thursday evening.

Based on secret information, a CID team under the aegis of Deputy Superintendent Deba Dutta and conducted a raid at the rented house of Md. Abdul Wahid at Napara under Satgaon Police Station in Guwahati.

As per the CID report, Abdul Wahid was reported to be a tenant at the residence of Md Izzat Ali. Basically, Wahid is a resident of Thouwal District in Manipur.

During the search operation, the CID team recovered the 21,500 packets of WIN (KING SIZE CIGARETTEs) from the possession of Md. Abdul Wahid.

Wahid also couldn’t produce any supporting documents of cigarettes and admitted that he kept the cigarettes for his illegal business.

Accordingly, the recovered cigarettes were seized and apprehended Wahid on the spot.

A case was registered in connection to the matter CID PS Case No. 10/2019 under section 380/411 of the Indian Penal Code R/W section 7 of COTPA R/W section 135 of Customs Act.
