BVSMNA meets Rajib Barua

Silchar, May 31: Barak Valley Small and Medium Newspapers Association (BVSMNA), Silchar, has been fighting for the survival of small and medium newspapers of Barak Valley. In this regard, Debal Adhikari, general secretary, and Sanat Kumar Koiri, president, of BVSMNA, met with Rajib Prakash Barua, director of Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) on Monday at Silchar Circuit House. They also submitted a memorandum stating their demands. The demands include regularization of advertisements to small and medium newspapers, timely payment of newspaper bill and providing 1000 sq. cm. advertisements per paper per week. Rajib Prakash Barua assured that small and medium newspapers of Barak Valley would get advertisements on regular basis. He also assured them that the outstanding bills would be cleared at the earliest. Talking to The Sentinel, Debal Adhikari said, “We are hopeful that acche din is soon going to come for these small and medium newspapers. Rajib Prakash Barua readily agreed to our demands.”
