Cachar BJP debunks Rahul Gandhi's lies on Rafale

Special Correspondent

Silchar: 'Repeat a lie hundred times and it becomes a truth'. Rahul Gandhi is following the dictum set by Hitler's publicity secretary Goebel. Even after Supreme Court has given clean chit to the NDA over its deal with the French government, Rahul Gandhi and his cronies continue to repeat the lie of it being a fishy deal. Dr Rajdeep Roy, state spokesperson of BJP, hit back at the Congress supremo Rahul Gandhi with all sarcasm and called upon him to call a spade a spade. He at the same time advised the frontline Congress leaders to go through the judgment of the Supreme Court without being prejudiced and biased.

Dr Rajdeep Roy was joined by other party stalwarts including district president Kaushik Rai, MLAs Dilip Kumar Paul, Aminul Haque Laskar and others in condemning Congress national president and member of Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for misguiding the people of the country purely on the basis of illogical and baseless arguments. Dr Rajdeep Roy added to say that in the Apex Court, three particular issues on decision making, price and offset partners were particularly raised in these petitions. On December 14 last, Supreme Court giving its judgment on the three petitions observed that the overall process in the Rafale agreement "is transparent and strictly according to the laid down parameters".

Most significant as Dr Rajdeep Roy said the Supreme Court through its judgment has given the message that this decision related to national security should not be brought to the Court just on the basis of unfounded doubt and unsubstantiated media reports. The Court also set aside all the petitions and stated there is no any scope or any solid basis to doubt this agreement. On the basis of the facts, the Court also admitted that the Air Force of the country needs such sophisticated combat crafts in view of the threat to national security and integrity.

The observation of the Apex Court is also significant when it stated, "it does not matter what the personal opinion of people is on this agreement." Going back to the background, the state spokesperson pointed out in 2001, the subject of purchasing some fighter planes were brought to the notice of the then UPA led by Dr Manmohan Singh which kept the matter under warp during its regime. When NDA came to power, the matter moved towards a right direction and right decision under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was after all the matter of national security.

That even after this crucial judgment of the Supreme Court Rahul Gandhi and his party continue to harp on lies just for the sake of their narrow political gains is most unfortunate, Dr Rajdeep Roy said. Such malicious campaign is only tarnishing the image of the country at the international level. The behaviour and antics of Congress president are undermining the security and safety of the country which can at best be dubbed an anti national act. It has become a bĂȘte noir for Congress leaders to act like Goebel and his propaganda machinery. It is insisted by the BJP Cachar district that Rahul Gandhi should be removed from his position for playing with such an important issue of national security. A memorandum on the issue was addressed to the President of India and sent through the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar. A protest rally with the slogan 'down with Rahul Gandhi and his orchestrated lies on Rafale agreement' was brought out by the frontline BJP leaders who included Kabindra Purkayastha, former union minister, and others today.
