Cachar police apprehends notorious criminal

Silchar, April 28: One pistol, two rounds of live ammunitions, three master keys as well as 13 kind of vehicle lock breaking tools, stolen parts of vehicles, a number plate of a stolen vehicle, a blue coloured stolen motorcycle and four fake vehicle number plates were recovered by Cachar police and Rangirkhari police at around 10 pm on Friday from the residence of one Kamrul Islam Borbhuiya alias Lekoi. During interrogation he confessed his crimes. He is the kingpin of the bike lifting group active in the entire Barak Valley. Being a notorious criminal, Kamrul has been involved in various anti-social activities. He has been stealing motorcycles and vehicles since 2007. He along with his gang members has stolen about 5000 motorcycles from Silchar.
Kamrul Islam Borbhuiya has stolen almost 30 number of 12 wheeler trucks. He has been selling these stolen bikes and vehicles at Jiribam, Aizwal and Patharkandi. He has also been involved in arms smuggling. He used to purchase pistol from Dimapur at Rs 25,000 and sell the same to other bike lifters and drugs smugglers at Rs 55,000. In 2007 Kamrul stole one big truck loaded with medicine from Madhurband and sold it in Imphal for Rs20 lakh. He is also alleged to have committed two murders. He allegedly killed Lutfur Rahman Choudhury of Saidpur in 2013 and Arul Islam Choudhury of Barohali in 2007. As per sources he allegedly shot them with a pistol and snatched their motorcycles. The notorious criminal has stolen around 20 laptops and is also a drug peddler.
