Bongaigaon, May 23: This was the call of humanity which made a large section of the people of Bongaigaon come out on the streets to collect dotion for the treatment of a 15-year old girl med Purnima Ray who is suffering from a rheumatic disease since a long time.
Uttam Ray, the cousin brother of Purnima, who led this rally for dotion, said that Purnima was suffering from this disease since the last three years. “Purnima’s father married a second time and now lives with his wife in some other place for the past 10 years. He has no relation with his family. Purnima’s mother is a domestic worker and works in several houses to feed Purnima and herself. Purnima is suffering from this disease since the last three years. We treated her in Bongaigaon Civil hospital but did not get any positive result. Hence we took her to a private nursing home in Bongaigaon few months ago where she was referred to a doctor in Guwahati.”
“We took her to Guwahati and the doctor suggested some tests. But these tests are expensive and it is impossible for her mother to provide so much money. Hence today we came out on the streets to beg help from people. Our villagers also accompanied us. We hope that with the help of people we will be able to give her provide her better treatment so that she recovers. If anybody is willing to dote, then please contact in the number 09127016511,” he said.
