Car hits puja pandal, driver assaulted: Silchar

Silchar: A vehicle hit a puja pandal causing minor damages to it. The unfortunate incident took place on Saturday evening near ISKCON temple which is at Ambicapatty, Silchar. The infuriated and excited mob assaulted the driver of the car very badly.

A number of people also damaged the car. The angry mob lost control and damaged an electrically driven auto rickshaw. However, police rushed to the spot on time and brought the situation under control. A Chevrolet car which was passing through a narrow passage of the puja pandal at Chowrongee point of Ambicapatty at around 9 in the night collided with the pandal and damaged it partially.

It did not end here. The car went on to hit some two-wheelers which were parked near ISKCON temple. The mob broke the car and abused its driver. People said that the passengers, as well as the driver of the car, were intoxicated. The incident created a chaos. The injured driver was rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment. The car was kept in police custody.
