Carrom tourment concludes

SHILLONG, May 8: The Lawei Ka Ri Social Cultural Club, Shillong on 7th May 2016 concluded their carrom board tourment at Mawlai Mawdatbaki.

Sanborlang Sawkmie from Mawlai became the champion in the Men singles competition and Bantei Pyngrope from Madanrynting bagged the runners up spot.

The carrom board tourment saw many players from the city including from Ri Bhoi District taking part in the different categories which consist of Junior, Senior, Men, Women, Veteran and Mix doubles.

Leaders of the Social Cultural Club right from the president, S Lyngdoh, secretary, A Khryiem and vice president, J Rymba acknowledged the members of the club for their hard work in making the competition a success.

They also express gratitude towards the participants, Headman B.R. Kharmujai and Chairman Indoor Sport Hall, D Khongwir while also admitting that without the help from these people from Mawlai Mawdatbaki the tourment wouldn’t have been a success.

Chief Guest at the function P T Sawkmei, MDC Mawlai constituency lauded the Lawei Ka Ri Social Cultural Club for organizing such a tourment and encouraged them to organize similar tourments in the future.

He also expressed confidence that one day the carrom board players will shine at the tiol and even Intertiol level. He informed that the Meghalaya Carrom Association (MCA) will be organizing a carrom board tourment in the state later this year.
