Cases against Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev, others for provocative remarks

GUWAHATI: A number of cases have been registered in Dispur police station against BJP’s Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev and a few others on the charge of making provocative statements.

The police station registered a case (3299/18 u/s 153(A)/504/505/108/34 IPC) on Saturday against Shiladitya Dev, Pradip Dutta Roy, Kamalakshya Dey, Chandan Sarkar and Shyamal Sarkar following an FIR lodged against them by Durniti Birodhi Yuba-Shakti, Asom (DBYSA) president Dharmakanta Gogoi.

Following another FIR lodged by RTI activist Dulal Bora, Dispur police station registered another case (3300/18 u/s 108/504/505/153-A IPC) against Dev. Kishore Baruah, a person hailing from Barpeta, has also filed yet another FIR at Dispur police station against Shiladitya Dev, Chandan Sarkar, Pradip Dautta Roy, Shyamal Sarkar and Sukumar Biswas for making provocative statements. Earlier on October 18, 2018, Baksa district’s Popular Front of India general secretary Jakir Hussain did lodge an FIR in Ananda Bazar Police Station against Shiladitya Dev for making provocative statements. The FIR was transferred to Dispur Police Station that registered a case (3287/18 u/s 153-A/504/506/108 IPC) against the BJP MLA based on the FIR.
