CBI arrests ONGC DGM while accepting bribe

SIVASAGAR, June 8: The CBI on Tuesday arrested a Deputy General Mager of Oil and tural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Assam Asset, from his office here in Sivasagar for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor for releasing security deposit of the work done by him.
“The accused Major Ram Loachan, who is posted as DGM (civil) and Maintence, ONGC at ONGC, Assam Asset, Sivasagar, was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe from the complaint,” a CBI source said.
“A case was registered against the DGM. As per allegation, the accused demanded a bribe from the complaint for releasing the security deposit that was refundable after completion of work. Acting on the basis of the complaint lodged by the contractor, CBI sleuths led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, CBI, MR Hajong laid a trap and arrested Loacham while he was accepting the bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complaint,” the source said.
The ONGC senior official was interrogated for more than ten hours and simultaneously searches were conducted at the office and Sivasagar ONGC Colony residence of the accused which led to recovery of cash Rs 5 lakh from the drawer of his office table.
The accused was taken to Guwahati on Tuesday night for production before a court today.
