CBI conducts search operation in TU

Tezpur, April 16: A six-member Central Bureau of Investigation team from Delhi, led by TL Jamang on April 13, conducted a search operation in the Tezpur University and seized many important documents from the office of the registrar and the department of audit of the university. According to sources, during the investigation, the team quizzed many of the top officials of the university including the registrar and the deputy registrar regarding tenders against various works executed till date and examined the papers related with those works. It is to be stated that during the tenure of former VC Prof Mihir Kanti Chowdhury, the university received many fund allotments for its development. However, allegations have been rife that a few selected contractors were given the work of construction and supply of different goods and some of them allegedly misappropriated, sources said.
