CBI refuses to probe skull recovery case

IMPHAL April 16: There is general disappointment and despondency following the announcement by the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi that the CBI has refused to probe the case of recovery of sjkull from the premises of Tombisa higher secondary school by the construction labourers who were sscooping earth from the compound. Ibobi made the announcement at the sidelines of the function of observing the birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar on Thursday at the Congress office. Ibobi said that fund had been released for the construction of the marketing complex. But following the recovery of skulls the construction works are stalled. At the same the union home ministry has sent a letter to the state government informing that the CBI cannot take up the case. No reason was furnished. More than half of the works are completed. The government had suggested that  representatives of the civil organisations can be present in the site while the earth is being dug up with video cameras. This is in anticipation that more skeletons may be found. However no agreement is reached with the civil societies, he disclosed.
