CBI Team likely to visit Assam this Week to Investigate Multi Crore Louis Berger Scam

Guwahati: A special CBI team is likely to visit Assam this week to investigate the high profile multi-crore Louis Berger scam, claiming this Swaraj Asom Convener and RTI activist Bhaben Handique told to The Sentinel stated that he is hopeful to the special CBI team which is likely to come next week will be able to find better leads to the case and also track down everyone who is involved in the scam.

Bhaben Handique also expressed his dissatisfaction stating how CBI took up the case in September last year by filing a 40-page FIR against some unknown officials for allegedly bribing the former Congress-led Government to fix the contract.

It may be mentioned that after filing the case, a CBI team visited Assam in October 12, 2017 and took statements of the three petitioners including Bhaben Handique (who filed a case in Dispur PS) and the Government official, who filed a case with the CID regarding the scam.

But no report of any CBI team’s visit to the State in regard was made thereafter.

Bhaben further added, “We are happy that the case has been handed over to CBI but without the summon notice to Finance Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma this case has no direction.”
