CCTV Vigil Intensified In Assam Assembly Secretariat

GUWAHATI: With the monsoon session of the Assam Assembly beginning from July 18, the Assembly Secretariat is installing several CCTV cameras at strategic positions on the premises to step up security and avert untoward incidents.

Sources said even though the CCTV surveillance is already there on the Assembly Secretariat premises, many cameras have become old and not functioning properly. Moreover, the surveillance is not wider enough to cover each and every strategic location of the Assembly campus.

A recent meeting on security at the Assembly campus decided to install CCTVs at all important and strategic locations, including the New MLA Hostel canteen. CCTVs will even be installed on the streets along the MLA Hostel and quarters.

“The decision has been taken to ensure foolproof security on the premises and avoid any untoward incident. Since the Assembly Secretariat is situated at Dispur tight security is always a priority. The CCTVs will help those involved in arranging security on Assembly premises to closely monitor movement of ministers, MLAs, bureaucrats and other individuals,” the source said.
