Centre should cancel the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill: Atul Bora

GUWAHATI: AGP president Atul Bora reiterated on Friday that his party cannot accept the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill for the interest of Assam. The statement bears significance as it came on a day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guwahati.

Bora said: “There’s still time. The Centre should cancel the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. Our agitation will continue so long the Bill stays. The Centre should understand that the Bill is a threat not only to Assam. It’s a threat to the indigenous people of the entire Northeast.”

Meanwhile, the AGP took out torchlight rallies all over the State in protest against the Citizenship Bill on Friday. In such a rally in Guwahati, party president Bora and other senior leaders took part.
