Centre, state must work together: Mamata

Kolkata, May 9: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday emphasised that the centre and states must work together for India’s development, as Prime Minister rendra Modi launched three social security schemes in the city. “If the centre and state work together on development programmes, then it augurs well for India as well as the states,” she said during the launch programme. The Trimool Congress supremo also stressed enhanced coordition between the centre and states so that social schemes and programmes can be implemented properly. Calling for working for the uplift of the “downtrodden and poor”, Banerjee requested the centre to ensure banking coverage for all panchayats across the country. “When we came to power in 2011, more than 1,000 panchayats out of 3,000 did not have banks.  (IANS)
