Centre’s move on historical monuments opposed

 OUR CORRESPONDENT

SIVASAGAR, May 5: Sushanta Borgohain, president of Sivasagar District Congress Committee, in a press release strongly opposed the Central Government’s move to hand over to a private company the task of maintaining and developing tourism infrastructure of three heritage sites of Sivasagar- Rang Ghar, Kareng Ghar and Shiva Doul, and the Kaziranga National Park.  He said that there must be a convert deal with the private firms which make no move where there was no profit. Alleging that handing over historical monuments and sites to private firms was part of a ploy, he said, “Jayanta Malla Baruah, chairman of the Tourism Department, is planning a big syndicate with our historical sites.”
