Chef de Missions visit city venues

GUWAHATI, Jan 11: Chef de Missions of various countries, which will take part in the 12th South Asian Games, today visited the different venues of the Games in the city. Official sources said that the visiting delegates expressed satisfaction on the progress of preparation and venues of the Games.

Chef de Missions of all eight participating countries are in a three-day tour to inspect the venues and other facilities of both Guwahati and Shillong which will jointly host the next edition of the SAF Games from February 5.

A sourceĀ  of the organizing committee today informed The Sentinel that a meeting was organized in a luxury hotel in the city today where details presentation was made on the preparation by the 16 Functiol Areas of the Games .Chef de Mission also hold meeting with the senior officials and organizers on other issues.

Later 8-member team, flanked by the officials of the organizing committee, visited different venues including Indira Gandhi stadium which will host the iugural and closing function along with other events. Chef de Missions will visit few other venues tomorrow before depart for Shillong in the afternoon.

About 4500 athletes and officials from eight tions are expected to participate in 23 events during 12-day long event.

It should be mentioned that the squash event is likely to be shifted to Royal Rlobal Institutions from R G Baruah Sports Complex, though official conformation is yet to be filised.
