Cheques handed over to victims of disaster in Jorhat

JORHAT, NOV 11: Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa gave away the compensation cheques to the 3,698 beneficiaries from the district affected by disasters like storm, fire and flood at a function organized by the District Disaster Risk Magement branch, district administration and Country Planning that was held at the Sri Sri Pitambor Dev Goswami auditorium of the district library on Saturday.
MP Tasa requested all the beneficiaries to utilize the money properly. “I am proud and happy that a total of 3,698 families will receive their compensation money for disaster, without giving a single penny to any middleman, broker or official. They are getting as per certification from the gaon burah to mandal and the mandal to Circle Officer. The deserving beneficiaries are chosen by a free and fair process,” he said.
The beneficiaries from Jorhat East Circle, Jorhat West Circle, Teok Circle, Mariani Circle, Titabor Circle and Dergaon Revenue Circle were handed over cheques in presence of Dergaon MLA Bhaben Bharali, Jorhat district BJP president Shantanu Pujari, Jayanta Goswami, ADC in-charge of District Disaster Risk Magement and Virendra Mittal, Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat, at a jam-packed cheque distribution ceremony, said Pran Krish Gogoi, the Project Officer of District Disaster Risk Magement.
