Chetia accorded warm welcome in Jorhat, Sivasagar

JORHAT, GAURISAGAR, DEMOW, Dec 25: ULFA leader Anup Chetia, who was released from jail on Thursday, warmly received by the people at Jorhat today.

Taking to reporters in Jorhat on the way to his home town in Dibrugarh district, Chetia said, “I was remained quite uware about Assam while I was in Bangladesh jail for last 18 years, but during my stay in Guwahati central jail, I came to know that Assamese cultural is in serious crisis.”

Chetia also said their movement will continue in a democratic way until they achieve their goals. He was welcomed by various organizations including Jatiya Swahid  Parial Samannyarakshi Samiti, Mab Adhikar Sangram Samiti, Chutia Students’ Union and Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad.

The ULFA leader was also felicitated at Gaurisagar and Jhanji on his way to home.  Chetia, who arrived at Gaurisagar ASTC bus stand complex at 6 pm was felicitated by various organizations like Gaurisagar Unyan Samiti, Gaurisagar Bibasayee Santha, Silpukhuri Kala Krishti Kendra. In Demow, the Peoples Council for Peace and Development (PCPD), Thowra Mandalik Committee and Mab Adhikar Sangram Samiti (MASS), Demow Regiol Committee along with other organizations felicitated Chetia.
