Chhath Puja celebrated with fervour at Tangla

TANGLA, November 7: Hundreds of devotees offered prayers to the Sun God and Chhati Maiya on the banks of rivers and other water bodies of the town on the occasion of Chhath Puja on Sunday evening and Monday morning.

The devotees thronging the venues with wicker baskets filled with offerings to Sun God and Chhathi Maiya, the Goddess who is worshipped during the festival, offered prasad and argh to the Sun God standing in knee-deep water. The devotees celebrated the festival with all grandeur. Prasad was also offered to onlookers in the river ghats by the Puja committees.

As elaborate  measures were taken, the festival passed off successfully without  any mishap.

The festival includes rigorous fast and rituals spanning four days, holy bathing, abstaining from drinking water and food, offering argh to Sun God, standing in water and offering prasad.
