New Delhi, Jan 18: US Pacific Command chief Admiral Harry Harris on Thursday called Chi a “disruptive force” in the Indo-Pacific region, while Indian vy chief Admiral Sunil Lanba pointed out towards increasing presence of Chinese warships in the Indian Ocean. Mistrust for Chi figured prominently at a multilateral diplomacy and defence forum here, with representatives from India, US, Japan and Indonesia pointing out towards the lack of transparency on Chi’s part, and its growing attempts to change status quo unilaterally. In a panel discussion at the Raisi Dialogue being organised by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) here, Admiral Harris said: “I believe the reality is that Chi is a disruptive transitiol force in the Indo-Pacific. They are the owner of the trust deficit that we all have spent the last hour or so talking about.” He however added that Chi has also played an important role in humanitarian and disaster relief operations, anti-piracy operations as well as against terrorism.
