Chi punished officials for helping Dalai Lama group

Beijing, January 28: The Communist Party of Chi (CPC) punished 15 officials in 2014 for participating in the outlawed underground “Tibetan Independence” organisation and providing intelligence to the Dalai Lama group, a media report said on Wednesday. Several officials were put under investigation in 2014 for assisting “activities that would harm tiol security”, the People’s Daily quoted authorities in the Tibet autonomous region as saying on Tuesday. Six “typical” cases of party members and civil servants violating discipline were announced in Tibet and 45 officials, who abandoned their positions and neglected their duties were severely punished, said Wang Gang, an official with the party discipline commission. Some officials failed to take a firm stand on issues related to the Tibet question and some officials in the region were found to be seriously corrupt, said Ye Dongsong, head of an inspection team of the CPC discipline commission in November 2014.
