Chi visit's outcomes will take ties to new level'

New Delhi, June 15:  Prime Minister rendra Modi said on Monday that the outcomes of his “extremely productive visit” to Chi last month will take the relationship between the two countries a to a new level.

Modi, who met Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the standing committee of Chi’s tiol People’s Congress, said that parliamentary exchanges are an important pillar of the bilateral relationship and stressed on the need to broaden the foundation of relations by also promoting exchanges between state-level legislatures, an official release said. “The prime minister recalled his extremely productive visit to Chi last month, and said that the outcomes of the visit will take the India Chi relationship to a new level,” the release said.

Modi also highlighted the importance of peaceful, stable and cooperative relations between India and Chi for regiol and global peace and prosperity. Zhang said that there is a new level of interest about India in Chi across all sectors, including among the businesses “due to Modi’s visit to Chi and his leadership in India”, the release said.

“He endorsed the view expressed by the prime minister in Chi that whether 21st Century is Asian century will depend on what India and Chi achieve individually and jointly,” the release said.

Modi said Zhang emphasised the importance of promoting investment, trade, tourism and people-to-people ties and enhancing strategic communication and coordition. The release said that the two leaders welcomed the “renewed focus” on India and Chi’s ancient cultural and spiritual ties.

Modi also welcomed the increase in the number of Chinese visitors to India since the launch of “Visit India Year” in Chi earlier this year.  (IANS)
