Chief Electoral Officer denied allegation regarding EVM and VVPAT

From A Correspondent

AGARTALA, Feb 7 : The Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura, Sriram Tanikant ruled out the possibility of any manipulation of EVM and said that the allegation raised by the CPI(M) state secretary Bijon Dhar is totally baseless.

While addressing a press conference, he said there may be some technical glitches with the dummy machines being used for demonstration to create awareness among the voters but there is no reason to be worried as the election commission is very much cautious and only the correct machines will be used for voting purpose.

Earlier, Dhar had alleged that during demonstration in booth no 47 of the 41 Ampigar ST reserve constituency it was found in some machines that when buttons are pressed, votes are going only to the BJP. The VVPET machine also was showing the same results.

Tapash Roy, the additiol Chief Electoral Officer, when contacted by the reporters said it is absurd as no party me of symbol is used in the machines used for demonstration. Both Roy and the returning officer of the concerned constituency Arun Kumar said no complaints were reported on this, during the demonstration.
