Chief Minister asks NHAI to repair 183 km stretch of tiol Highway

Guwahati, September 15: Miffed at the conditions of the tiol Highways, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal on Thursday asked tiol Highways Authority (NHAI) of India to repair 183 km stretch of the tiol Highways from Dibrugarh towards Sivasagar within September 30.

Reviewing the government schemes and programmes at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Sivasagar on Thursday, Chief Minister Sonowal asked the NHAI to undertake the repair work on a war footing to ease encumbrances of the commuters, stated a press release.

Chief Minister Sonowal sought information from the District Agriculture Officer (DAO) about the teeming caterpillars that wrecked havoc on the crop land. He directed the DAO to take remedial steps to save the farm lands from further devastation. He took stock of the activities of Zila Parishad, Power, Health, Public Health Engineering, Veteriry and Animal Husbandry and PWD Departments. Sonowal also asked all the officers of the district to work as a team along with the Deputy Commissioner and render services for the welfare of all sections of the people. Member of Parliament Rameswar Teli, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, several MLAs, Chief Secretary Vinod Kumar Pipersenia, Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami, Home Commissioner LS Changsan, DC and Superintendents of Police of Sivasagar and Charaideo, officers of ONGC and OIL were present at the meeting.
