Chief Minister launches tiol schemes for State

SHILLONG, May 9: Chief Minister of Meghalaya Dr Mukul M Sangma today launched three tiol schemes of the Government of India mely, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yoja, Atal Pension Yoja and Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yoja for the state of Meghalaya in the presence of Union Minister of State for Agriculture, Mohanbhai Kalyanji Kundariya at a function at North Eastern Council Auditorium.

The schemes were also launched simultaneously by the Prime Minister of India, rendra Modi in Kolkata and in 115 places all over the country. The social security schemes aim at bringing insurance and pension to the doorstep of everyone. Though all are eligible for these schemes it targets the weaker sections of the society.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr Mukul M Sangma expressed happiness to be associated with the programme that would touch a million lives. He added that successive governments at the centre and the state had similar programmes before which did not bring much success because people did not have banking and credit facilities.

Stating that the success of these schemes depended on the banking partners, he urged the banks to go beyond the blocks to ensure the people have the right kind of banking access to these programmes and thus benefit from them. He further said that banks should have local recruitments to eble connection between the banks and the people.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture, Mohanbhai Kalyanji Kundariya said that the dream of the Prime Minister of India, rendra Modi to ensure social security to every citizen especially the weaker sections of the society will be realized with the launch of the three schemes. He informed that the central and state governments together with the banks will deliver the schemes to every household and citizen.
