Chief Secretary visits cleanest village of Darrang

MANGALDAI, February 11: Assam Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia, accompanied by his wife, on Saturday visited village Dogiapara under Sipajhar LAC in Darrang district. Village Dogiapara has been declared as the cleanest village of the district and also awarded in the recent Republic Day celebration by the State Government at Mangaldai.

The Chief Secretary in his visit to the village earlier paid homage at the Krishak Swahid Memorial at historic Pothorughat in memory of the 140 Krishak Swahids who were brutally gunned down by the imperial British government on January 28, 1894.

Darrang Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman, Superintendent of Police Sreejith Thiraviam and Legislator of Sipajhar LAC Binda Kumar Saikia along with the villagers extended a hearty welcome to the Chief Secretary. Taking part in a meeting at the village, Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia appreciated the effort and initiative of all the villagers in making their village a swaccha village. He hoped that the continuous and untiring  efforts of the villagers would make the village the cleanest village of the country. Additiol Deputy Commissioners Bidyut Bikash Bhagawati and Kalpa Deka also accompanied the visiting Chief Secretary.
