Child kidpped from Silchar rescued in Meghalaya

SILCHAR, June 10: The two-year-old child from here who has been missing from the staff quarter of Assam University for the last six days has been found at Khliehriat, which is the headquarters of the East Jaintia Hills district in Meghalaya. The baby has been recovered by Meghalaya Police at around 4pm. She is a daughter of Shubhadeep Roy Choudhury, assistant professor, Department of Life Science, Assam University and Dr Shatabhisha Chakraborty, medical officer at Assam University.

She was taken out for a haircut when a shopkeeper recognized and identified her from her photograph on a newspaper. The shopkeeper kept her with him and informed Khliehriat police immediately. They rushed to the spot and recovered the two year-old-baby. Till filing of the report, a team of police and media-persons have already left for Khliehriat and no arrest has been made so far.
