Child killed in jumbo attack

Golaghat, August 7: The man-elephant conflict is again on the rise in some places in Golaghat. On Saturday midnight a group of wild jumbos entered the Sundarpur area under Bogijan PS in Golaghat. The group demolished four houses and attacked people. In the attack a child med Asha Ekka (8) was killed and her father Dakhalsai Ekka was injured. However, other members of the family somehow escaped from the attack of wild jumbos. On Sunday a wave of panic and mourning prevailed in the area. According to the sources, the group is still taking shelter in nearby tea gardens and there are chances of more attacks. The authorities concerned are trying to prevent the jumbos from entering into people’s living area.
