Child, materl deaths alarming'

New Delhi, August 30: Child and materl deaths in the country are alarming and scary, Prime Minister rendra Modi said on Sunday. Every year some 50,000 women and 13 lakh infants die during childbirth, Modi said in his Mann Ki Baat radio address. The ‘Call to Action Summit 2015’, a global meet to end preventable child and materl deaths, was hosted for the first time in India, Modi said. He said there was a need to end these deaths.

Prime Minister rendra Modi on Sunday urged people to maintain cleanliness to avoid the spread of dengue. “Dengue is dangerous but prevention is easy... if we take care of cleanliness in small things,” he said in his radio address Mann Ki Baat. The prime minister said though awareness was there, yet there was a gap. “We must not make death so cheap... Apathy to cleanliness becomes the invitation for death, this is not acceptable.” (IANS)
