Child Rights Day observed

SHILLONG, Nov 22: On the occasion of Child Rights Day on November 20, SPARK along with the IGNOU Social Work Students commemorated the day by organizing a three-day programme for the children to sensitize them on child rights and engaging them in various activities pertaining to the subject.

Stressing on the necessity to safeguard, care and provide legal protection of children, a child-friendly and activity based session was held to explain the children about their basic rights as per the United tions Convention on the Rights of the Children which includes Right to Survival, Right to Protection , Right to Development and Right to Participation.

The children were also provided a platform to share their experiences as well as empowered to protect themselves from abuse and exploitation.

Besides, the children were also sensitized on child abuse, child trafficking and other issues pertaining to children.
